The Winter Park Nordic TeamTHE WINTER PARK NORDIC TEAM

The season is over!  Please check back next Fall.  Have a good summer!

Waiting to Race

WELCOME TO THE WINTER PARK NORDIC TEAM! We are excited about our seventh year of fun on XC skis and look forward to seeing you this winter. The WPNT is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching children the joys of Nordic skiing. However, learning great technique and pushing ourselves to ski fast is secondary to just having fun on skis. Don’t forget, those lacrosse sticks are back this winter for you Nord-Cross enthusiasts. All of our coaches and parents are volunteers. One hundred percent of any dollars ear-marked for WPNT use is in the “vaults” of the Winter Park Ski Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that is our official umbrella organization.

Beginners who have not skied before, need to learn the basics. Several lessons from the teaching staff at Snow Mountain Ranch or Devil’s Thumb before joining our group would be useful.

For you first years who are just learning how to skate or classic, you may join us for Try it….You’ll Like it during our first three sessions beginning Sunday, December 30th. We are all practicing our basics early in the season and you need to be there.

For you veterans of past years, we want you back all eight sessions with loud sighs when you are missing to attend a school social, birthday party or a powder day on the slopes……..no pressure from your team here. We understand will accept it when soccer season starts up in the middle of the winter. Veterans who cannot come to all eight sessions…join us whenever you can..

Skiers need good skating skis, poles and skating boots, properly waxed and ready to go. If you are new to the program, a coach will be quizzing you as to your equipment. Help and suggestions from a coach are available before the season begins. Just ask!

Program cost this year (2012-2013) will be $55 and will include a light weight team hat. If you elect the first three sessions only, the cost is $25.00 (no team hat). Both Devils Thumb Ranch and Snow Mountain Ranch charge us trail fees. The per day trail fee varied between $5 and $8 last year. We will let you know actual costs as the season gets closer.
